Stanford China Education Foundation is a non-profit corporation, incorporated in California. Its mission is to build a bridge between overseas Chinese and young generations in China, encourage educational activities in China, promote academic and educational exchange between the US and China. |
The concept of SCEF was initiated by the Association of Chinese
Students and Scholars at Stanford in 1995. A working committee was set
up by 11 volunteers, most of them then Ph.D. students in Education,
Economics, Engineering, etc. SCEF was formally incorporated in the
State of California in December 1996, and was granted 501c(3)
tax-exemption status in June 1997.
The goal of SCEF is to develop into a significant entity with strong financial resources and talent resources to better meet the social need of educational/cultural exchange between China and the US. For that reason, professional management and development of the organization are essential right from the beginning. SCEF puts great emphasis on developing a clean organizational structure, a clear shared vision of the future, and a spirited team.
